204 Camping Tents At Baker Park Reserve

I went to the Baker Park Reserve yesterday near Maple Plain MN which is less than 30 minutes from downtown Minneapolis and it was a fantastic place.  I think it is my new favorite camping destination.  They have everything you could ask for.  Baker Campground is in the

ThreeRivers District and has 204 camp sites, including 98 with electricity. Showers and flush toilets (wheelchair accessible). Each camp site has a picnic table and fire ring with a grill plate that can be positioned nicely over each fire pit. Each camp site can accommodate two tents or one tent and one RV, with a maximum of eight people per campsite. And it’s inexpensive too.  It only costs $17 per site without electricity, $22 per site with 30amp electrical service and $25 per site with 50/30amp electrical service. Baker Campground even has 4 cabins and two really nice sandy beaches on Lake Independence.

The lake is good for fishing and their landing has two cement boat ramps and a dock.  There is plenty of room beside each beach area to park your boat, get out and go swimming.  The lake is a little murky but great for recreation and fishing.  They do charge $5.00 to park your boat but

it’s well worth it and they have 58 spaces for parking your boat trailer.  Baker Park Reserve also has lots of trails for hiking and sight seeing so bring your binoculars.

While there were quite a few pop up trailers and RVs there when I last went, there were a whole lot more camping tents.  It was like being at Camping Tents Haven where there were camping tents everywhere and as far as the I can see.  All different shapes, colors and sizes. I even saw the Wenzel Kodiak Family Dome Tent.  Whenever I think of the word ‘Kodiak’  I think of the large Kodiak bear.  While there aren’t any Kodiak bears at Baker Park Reserve, there were many large family camping tents like the Wenzel Kodiak Family Dome Tent at Baker Campground.  This park reserve also had lots of picnic tables, grills, restrooms, showers, playgrounds, volleyball courts and large shelters spread throughout the park with lots of open space as well.

I think Baker Park Reserve and it’s campground have become my new, favorite camping places in Minnesota.  Check out Baker Campground for your self and remember, “The Joy is in the Journey”.
